Your Last 12 Months?
Over the years, I have heard people say “I’m going to do it” over and over again, but those bucket list items never get checked off. All of the things that they wanted to accomplish or experience get pushed off and pushed off because they think they have all the time in the world. That is not how I choose to think about time because, in reality, there may not be as much time as you think.
I recently listened to a podcast on Longevity, and the host posed the same question – If you had 12 months to live, how would that change your life? What would you do? Immediately, people would put together their bucket lists:
- Trips
- Family time
- Friend Time
- Experiences
- Forgiveness & Reconnections
They would plan a full and invigorating last 12 months. But, you most likely couldn’t get those same people to actually Do those things in the end. A one-year life sentence does not always mean a one-year permission slip to do what you want because they are often worried, as they should be, about what they are leaving behind for their families.
Here is your Permission Slip
What if those same people had a permission slip? Perhaps, a permission slip from a life insurance policy that guaranteed that when they died, their family would be provided for, income-tax free. All of the people that they love and care for could be free of financial hardship after they’re gone. This permission slip would allow them to spend all of their interest, all of their principal while still alive.
If you had 12 months to live and had a permission slip from your life insurance policy, would that change how you lived? What if you had 24 months left to live and a permission slip, would that change how you live? What if you only have 5 years left? How about 20? How about 30? Why should the amount of time left make any difference what-so-ever when none of us know when we’re going to die? It could be today. It could be tomorrow. It could be 30 years from now. Who knows? Why should your game plan change when you don’t know when you are going to die anyways?
If it’s important enough to take care of when you Think you only have 12 months left, then you should probably be creating this as your same game plan when you Think you have 30 years left. That way, you’re not leaving money on the table that you could be using to live a full life of experiences WITH your family and friends.
I know that at the end of my life, I will have 7-figures deposited, income-tax-free, into the bank accounts of the people that I love. This allows me to live a full and impactful life with them while I’m still alive. Do you want a permission slip that allows you to live an awesome life with your family and friends, and then also provides for them after you are gone by recreating the wealth that you spent while you were alive, income-tax free?
If you want a permission slip, then perhaps it’s time to schedule your Financialoscopy®.
