Don't get screwed!

Have you ever had one of those situations where you needed to tighten a screw, but you had no idea where the screwdriver was? Maybe the kids ran off with them, or your spouse put it in a different place. You can’t find it, or maybe you’re just lazy, but you go to the utensil drawer and use the butter knife.

Butter Knife Solutions

A butter knife is not necessarily the best way to tighten a screw, but I will admit that out of sheer laziness, I have done this as well. The problem is that sometimes the butter knife doesn’t fit all the way in. Early in life, when I didn’t know any better, I had a lot of butter knives that were slightly bent. That’s kind of the way it is with a person’s life when it comes to money: you try to do it on your own. You try to fix things on your own. You try to do it with the knowledge that you have and the tools that you don’t have, but it is just so darn frustrating. It’s like trying to solve your problems and plan for the future with a butter knife.

Screwdriver Solutions

Then, eventually, you find a screwdriver. The problem is that sometimes the flat-head of the screwdriver is maybe too small or too wide, and so it doesn’t fit into where it needs to be. Sometimes the screw head is a Phillips and all you have is a flat-head. You try to put it at an angle to make it work in the Phillips screw, but it usually doesn’t and you perhaps mutter some inappropriate language under your breath.

You thought you had everything that you needed, but you still couldn’t fix the problem. Your knowledge may be better than a butter knife, but it’s still a single-use screwdriver. This is like people getting their advice from YouTube. Not that I’m against YouTube. I’ve used it myself for things like how do fix a toilet, but then I usually have to call a plumber to fix my “repair”.

The 15-in-1 Screwdriver

Now, if you decide to work with someone who gets you, who is educated, and who knows how all of the products work, then it’s like this thing -  my super-duper 15-in-1 screwdriver.

I don’t even know what some of these heads are used for. It’s got large flat-heads, little square heads, Phillips, etc. This is like finding someone who knows how to do the fixes and how to tighten the screws so they won’t come loose later on so you don’t try sitting down on a chair only to have it fall to pieces.

I don’t put mechanical things together very well. That’s why I don’t buy IKEA furniture, but I do know how people think. I do know, from experience, how things play out. Because of the education I have, I know how products and services can work in a person’s life.

So, you can either get expert advice, like a 15-in-1 tool. You can try to maybe use some of the products on your own, like a screwdriver. Or, you can be totally independent and use a butter knife solution. The question is: what are you doing so you don’t get screwed? Make sure you tighten things down and have things put together in such a way that you have a greater opportunity for success.

If we’re your people and think like we do, then perhaps it’s time to schedule your Financialoscopy®.
