Conduit – Engagement - Leverage

By Mark Bertrang, The Creator of the Financialoscopy® on Thursday, October 16th 2025

Someone was asking me today - what is it that The Financialoscopy® Team does? And I was able to narrow it down to just three words.

The first is Conduit.

We are a conduit between where you are now and where you would like to go. We are also often the conduit between you and financial organizations – explaining to them what you want to accomplish and helping you find the product that will meet your needs.

We work in that world of conduit. Most of our work is the conduit of listening.

Most companies say that they listen, but I sometimes wonder. Are they pausing and then talking a lot back? Or are they pausing and asking more questions?

Tell me more about…? Exactly how does that make you feel? What do you think the problems are regarding your current strategy or plans? Does your family know how you want this to end?

Every conversation creates new questions — questions we haven’t even thought of yet — because every conversation is different. We can’t simply pull up a spreadsheet and go down a list: question one, question two, question three.

I often begin with one question, having no idea what the second will be, because I have to listen.

The second word is Engagement.

Engagement means that we are fully invested in helping you get to where you want to go. Our plan is not your plan. Your plan is your plan. We assist you by engaging with you to reach your goals.

We don’t take a strategy of just going from A to B to C to D, and then feeling satisfied when we get to Z. I often have no idea where we’re going because, again, we have to understand where you want to go.

If we were a travel agency, and you wanted to go to New York City, there are many different ways of getting there. We could go by train, plane or automobile. We could even hitchhike - it would be slow, but not impossible.

The question is: How do you want to get there? Fast and furious? Slow and methodical? Would you like to see some scenery along the way? Does flying make you nervous? Are you concerned about delays with the railroad system? There are all these different things that we have to take into consideration, but at the core, it’s about engagement – being engaged with you in figuring out how to get to where you want to go.

The final word is Leverage.

How do we leverage, not only the assets that you have - because that’s just one conversation – but also the knowledge that you already possess? How do we bring more knowledge to the table to expand the possibilities that you may not have ever considered before? How do we leverage your faith? The love you have for your family? Your education? Your resources?

The goal is to get you from point A to point B. And sometimes, along the way, you might decide you no longer want to reach point B — you’d rather go to point C. That just means you’ve changed your mind, and you see new possibilities you hadn’t thought of before.

Conduit. Engagement. Leverage.

That’s who we are, and that’s what we do. If that’s what you want, we’re a great fit. If it’s not, then we’re not your people, and that’s okay.

If you’re ready, perhaps it's time for you to schedule your Financialoscopy®.
