The Wonderful World of Being Okay

By Mark Bertrang, The Creator of the Financialoscopy® on Thursday, October 9th 2025

Have you ever had one of those long days where, at the end of the day, you are exhausted and you question what purpose you served that day.

Occasionally, I look at a whiteboard and I like to write down our purpose. Some companies will refer to it as a mission statement, but most mission statements that I read are filled with a lot of words that most people don’t understand, and it just seems like most of it is… ‘B-S’.

For fun, I pulled up another company’s mission statement (not going to name names), and it’s talking about helping people, growing their wealth, providing comprehensive solutions that are financial, acting as fiduciaries, comprehensive solutions, involving a client’s goals, and looking at their current situation and developing strategies and plans, etc.. Honestly, if you are a company in the financial space, it should be a given that you are doing all of those things, and if I look at the word usage, I start to wonder if the whole thing was written by their attorney because it would be hard to disagree with what was written here. It would be hard to say that they didn’t do exactly as they said they were going to do.

I think about the words that have been written on an easel for the longest time in our conference room, and they’re not really for the clients, it’s more for us. Specifically, they’re probably more for me. I took a legal pad and spent some time thinking about what was written. If we ever had a ‘mission statement’, this would probably be it because we have a singular goal here – We want everyone to be Okay.

What does that mean? It means that mom and dads are going to be okay. It means that the kids are going to be okay. It means that the family is going to be okay, and it’s not about being JUST okay. That is what we would call “deficiency thinking”. You would never hire anyone or hire us for “deficiency thinking”. It’s also not about being rich or becoming rich under our guidance. Now, we’ll help you get there, but you know what? You’ve got to do that on your own -You’ve got to start a company. You have to work long hours. You have to own commercial property. We’ll help you along that journey, but it’s really your job to make yourself rich.

Our job is to create the Wonderful World of Being Okay. That’s really, if I have to use the word “mission statement”, that’s what it is. We come back to our goal with everyone who we work alongside.

This comes from the heart, because this is really what we’re all about. We want to work alongside you to make certain that you are going to be… Okay.

If you understand what we mean by creating the Wonderful World of Being Okay, then join us in the Financialoscopy® movement.
