Life throws curveballs that can knock you off your feet, both literally and financially. Today, let's talk about grab bars—not just the ones in your bathroom, but the metaphorical ones that keep you steady through life's unpredictable stages.
I remember when I first incorporated my business. I had a very small office: one room in the basement of a dental building in downtown La Crosse. At that time, that's all I could afford. If someone wanted to come to my office, they needed to negotiate stairs, which was never really a problem because every single client I had could navigate going up and down stairs.
But in the year 2000, we purchased the building where we are now and did a major renovation. We added a parking lot that required handicap parking. It required two entrances: one with steps, one with a ramp. It required a handicap-accessible bathroom. It also required every single door to be a certain width to accommodate wheelchairs. Up until that point in time, I had never had a client who was relegated to a wheelchair come and visit with me.

This is life. Life, all of a sudden, will throw you curveballs. In fact, the very first client who needed to ride a scooter into my office was because of a debilitating disease when they were still middle-aged. Older clients become more elderly and will soon need to use a ramp and need a disabled tag in their car to be able to park their vehicle in the handicap parking stall. Life changes. Even the bathroom that we installed had grab bars that were part of the requirement just to stay within the building codes.
We all go through different stages in life. Sometimes they can be physical—we aren't able to do what we once did. We need additional help. We need a ramp. We need grab bars. We need a handicap sticker.
But I find in the financial realm that I work in, people realize that they can't always do it themselves. They realize that they need a guide. They need an assistant to see them through all the difficult aspects of their life who is true to what their values are and who can make certain that they can do it with as much grace and ease as possible, while keeping their dignity in place.
So, no matter where you are in your financial journey—whether you're young and spry, whether you are aggressive and assertive, whether you're in the middle stages of your lifetime, or whether you are at that point in your life where you just want to make certain that there is a "grab bar" that will hold you steady in times of uncertainty—know that we understand all of the elements and all the stages that occur in someone's lifetime.
If you're ready, no matter what stage you're in, then perhaps it's time to schedule your Financialoscopy®. Don't wait for the fall—grab hold now.
