Do you remember the movie Miracle on 34th Street? The climax of the film happens when postal workers bring in huge duffel bags filled with Christmas cards addressed to “Santa, North Pole.” It becomes the final, undeniable proof that Kris Kringle is the real Santa Claus.
I felt like we had our own Kris Kringle moment when we received a Christmas card that wasn’t addressed properly to our office but still found its way to us. The card was addressed to “Our Financialoscopy Team” instead of “Bertrang Financial Corp.” Let me pause here and talk about that first line. I often refer to us as The Financialoscopy Team, but when I saw the word “Our”, it really struck a chord. It showed me that the folks who sent this card truly understand the relationships we strive to build with every person we serve.
We want our clients to feel a sense of ownership—to know that we are here for them, as part of their team.
The card did include “Suite 101,” but it also said “Bertrang & Co.” Now, I’m Mark Bertrang, so I suppose I’m the “Bertrang”. But the important part isn’t my name—it’s the “& Co.” I am just one person, here to inspire and guide the team and our clients. I often refer to myself as the Chief Visionary because I focus on our purpose and goals, but I can’t accomplish anything alone.
This is one of the reasons we updated our legal name this year from “Bertrang Financial Corp.” to “Financialoscopy Inc.” It’s not about me; it’s about us. It’s about Our Financialoscopy Team. Yes, Mark Bertrang is still here, but the real focus is the “& Co.” It represents each individual team member, with their unique talents and abilities, coming together to serve you.
The card also listed “Onalaska, Wisconsin, 54650.” Interestingly, it didn’t include our street address—1401 Main St.—nor our official company name. Yet, it still made it to us. Many of our clients live within a half-hour drive of our office, but we also serve people across the United States. Whether through Zoom, phone calls, or in-person meetings, we’re connecting in so many different ways.
This card reminded me of something important: no matter where you are or how we connect, we are yours. “Our” Financialoscopy Team is here for you. And the most significant part of the envelope wasn’t the address—it was the “& Co.” It’s about “all of us” working together to provide the exceptional service and hospitality you expect from us.
