Are you a predator or are you prey?
I get regular emails from a friend of mine. In retirement, he has embraced photography and sends me his pictures. He gets up early in the morning as the sun is gently coming over the horizon, waiting for wildlife to come out. As I was looking at some of his photos and admiring the work that he had done, I started to think about how we are often like birds. Sometimes we can be predatory birds and sometimes we are the birds that get eaten.
I want you to think for a moment: are you a predator or are you prey? In the world of finance, we can often feel like the prey because there are unfortunately companies and people that take advantage of others simply because it’s easy pickings. This is why we embrace the idea of being a fiduciary or caretaker of a person’s financial plans and strategies. It’s sometimes difficult to explain to people how they should be positioned because we understand - we all would like to have a higher rate of return. However, that may allow you to become prey.
The Wise Owl
It's time to re-calibrate your thinking and think like an owl. Try to be as wise as possible in all of your decision-making processes. An owl will sometimes just sit and watch. Totally camouflaged, an owl can often be sitting right there in front of you. They just sit there and take it all in.
Allow us to be the group of people that shows you the good and the bad sides of the decisions that you have to make in your life. We can be the wise owl. We watch carefully so we don’t take advantage of other people and they don’t take advantage of us. We have been given the tools, knowledge, and mathematical strategies to help determine what may be best for you. We want you to succeed because your success is our success.
Don’t be the prey or the predator. Instead, let’s be the wise old owl who thinks deeply about decisions to be made. If this conversation speaks to you, then perhaps it’s time to schedule your Financialoscopy®.
